Protecting animals and humans from rabies

Vaccinating your pets protects the entire family.

Rabies is a viral disease that attacks the central nervous system of mammals, including humans. Once clinical signs appear, rabies is almost always fatal in animals and people. Dr. Victor Kernaleguen with Gateway Veterinary Services in Melfort said vaccination is the best course of action.

In Saskatchewan, 88 samples were submitted for testing so far this year. There were confirmed cases in a bat, bovine, dog and three skunks.
