Crops and the effects of extreme heat
The extreme heat heading into August can take its toll on crops and their development.
Kim Stonehouse, Crops Extension Specialist in Tisdale said the heat can help with staging of crops but can also be harmful for flowering depending on location.
“Really, really hot days can cause abortion of pods and seeds causing yield decreases,” Stonehouse said.
The other side is extreme weather including thunderstorms and hail.
