Severe weather highlights Manitoba crop update
Despite unprecedented weather across several regions, spring planting is 96 per cent complete in Manitoba.
Pulse and soybean specialist Dennis Lange said unusual weather stood out this past week.
“Everybody’s talking about the weather. Record-setting precipitation fell in areas of the south Interlake and eastern regions,” Lange said. “There was some infrastructure and road damage, some rivers swelled and some basins flooded. There have definitely been some issues with excess moisture in some regions.”
Lange said most unseeded acres are in the northwest region, where wet conditions and major rain events have delayed planting.
