Crop show highlights ag tech innovation during the 43rd edition

With more than four decades of serving Western Canada’s agriculture industry, the 43rd annual Western Canadian Crop Production Show continued to be the spot for grain producers seeking tools and information as they plan for the season ahead.

Saskatoon became the centre of agricultural innovation as the crop show wrapped up another record-breaking year at Prairieland Park. Exhibitors from across Canada once again delivered solutions designed to boost efficiency, improve yields, and support confident decision making.

The event drew 16,114 attendees and showcased over 340 exhibitors.

Prairieland’s Agriculture Manager Leigh Ann Hulburt said every inch of the 240,000 square feet of space was packed with displays and information for farmers.

“The sold-out status of the trade show is a testament to its significance in the industry, offering unparallelled opportunities for exhibitors and producers to engage in meaningful dialogue,” Hulburt said. “This event is not just about showcasing products; it provides a platform for the exchanges of cutting-edge ideas and innovations; it’s about fostering connections and facilitating the progress of our agricultural community.”

During the opening day Jan. 13, the third annual Innovation Award crowned its 2026 winner. WEED IT captured top honours for its groundbreaking work in precision weed control, a concept that resonated strongly with producers seeking smarter, more sustainable solutions.

The show’s educational programming also drew strong crowds. In the Nufarm Information Theatre, experts tackled some of the industry’s most pressing topics, from the ongoing battle with Kochia, managing Richardson Ground Squirrel, to navigating the complexities of farm succession planning.

Once again, Prairieland hosted the announcement of the 2026 inductees into the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame.
