Farmers have an opportunity to speak out on a rail disruption
The looming threat of a lockout or strike action at CN and CPKC, Canada’s two cross-continent railways, poses a significant risk to Canadian agriculture, other industries and the broader Canadian economy.
SaskOilseeds, along with canola industry partners and other agriculture associations, are advocating for farmers on the issue to government at provincial and national levels.
A Stop the Strike ‘click-and-submit’ letter template has been created urging the federal government to take action to avoid any stoppage and ensure uninterrupted rail service to provide farmers, shippers and their customers needed certainty entering harvest season. All farmers have to do is click the link and add their name to a provided letter.
The letter will be directed to Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon as well as Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
