Viterra labour dispute

Viterra makes final offer to avoid a strike

Jan 5, 2024 | 10:26 AM

After extensive negotiations, Viterra said it has put forward a new final offer to the bargaining committee of the Grain and General Services Union.

The two sides spent the last two days meeting with a federal mediator.

The first final offer in the negotiations was rejected by union members this past November.

The elected officers for GSU Locals 1 and 2 are currently reviewing the offer.

The GSU served its 72-hour strike notice on Tuesday and would be in a position to walk out Friday afternoon.

The Union said their key issues are reliable wage increases, better work-family balance, health and safety, and greater respect in the workplace.
