Dairy farmers are concerned they have not received the balance of compensation promised by the federal government for losses related to recent international trade agreements.

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) annual general meeting gathered 200 producers from across the country in a virtual format.

DFC President Pierre Lampron said Canada’s trade agreement with the European Union (CETA) came into force in 2017, while the deal with the Trans-Pacific countries (CPTPP) came into force in 2018.

Lampron said the effect of these agreements has been further exacerbated by the Canada’s new trade agreement with the United States and Mexico (CUSMA), on July 1.

DFC passed a motion calling on the government to announce the payment schedule and related amounts for the balance of compensation owed for CETA and the CPTPP and establish a clear timeline and level of compensation for its promise on CUSMA.

A Regina based manufacturer has completed its purchase of GeoShack Canada and INTEQ Distributors.

This made Brandt Group of Companies the exclusive dealer for Topcon Positioning Systems which is used in several industries including agriculture technology and aerial mapping.

The GeoShack and INTEQ brands and operations will be transitioned into Brandt’s technology division.

In combination with Brandt’s pre-existing Topcon footprint in Western and Atlantic Canada, these additions have given Brandt a retail footprint to supply the entire Canadian market.
