Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices dropped during the busy fall calf run.

Feeder steer prices were lower in every weight category with the exception of the lowest and highest weight classes while feeder heifer bids were lower in every weight class. Price declines ranged from $1.37 to $3.69 per hundredweight.

Canfax reported roughly 47,000 head of cattle were sold in the province for the week ending Oct. 25.

That compares to 19,500 head during the previous week and up from the same week in 2018.

The Canada’s Farmers Grow Communities (CFGC) program will provide money to the Leoville library.

CFGC is supported by the Bayer Fund which selected 66 winning charities and not-for-profits to share $165,000.

Over 1,000 applications were received with a random draw held Oct. 4. Each winning charity will receive a $2,500 grant to apply to a project or program.

The program received many suggestions from farmers on how local groups in their communities could benefit from the grants.

The Leoville library will use the money to support equipment purchases and other programs.

The Brandt Group of Companies have acquired Nortrax and is now the exclusive John Deere Construction and Forestry dealer for all of Canada.

The Brandt Group of Companies, headquartered in Regina, serves the agriculture, construction, forestry, rail, mining, steel and energy industries.
