Agriculture Roundup for Tuesday September 10, 2019
An Alberta crop specialist is reminding producers to take a sample of each load going into the bin.
Neil Blue said the goal is to have a sample that has the same characteristics as the large volume of product. He said farmers should also consider using the Canadian Grain Commission’s free Harvest Sample Program.
Samples can be submitted prior to November with producers given an unofficial grade, protein content, DON and falling number for wheat as well as dockage, oil, protein and chlorophyll content for canola.
Go to grainscanada.gc.ca to get a personalized kit, including postage-paid envelopes for the samples.
