Canadian Grain Commission taking samples from producers on crop information
Farmers are looking for more information on their crop.
Producers can send in samples to the Canadian Grain Commission in order to get more information on oil content and chlorophyll levels in canola, protein as well as deoxynivalenol (DON) and falling numbers for wheat.
Canadian Grain Commission program manager, Daryl Beswitherick, said the percentage of number one Hard Red Spring Wheat started to decline.
“We’re showing 61 per cent of the crop is still grading number one and 16 per cent number two and going down from there,” Beswetherick said. “It’s surprising how well the crop did hold up considering what we heard with all the snow and wet weather for an extended period of time.
